Given that premise of the hit '70s sitcom Three's Company centers on the characters' living situation (and, of course, the hijinks that ensue), it's no wonder that Janet, Chrissy, and Jack had an enviable beach pad. The platonic trio, and their notorious landlords the Ropers, had sweet digs in the perpetually sunny Santa Monica, California.
Even though that printed couch may be long out of style, we're curious what a similar ground-floor apartment would cost today — and the folks over at Curbed found the answer.

On the show, the two ladies lived in one bedroom, and Jack was in another. Other episodes reveal a separate kitchen but no laundry facilities, and the opening credits hint at a short walk to the shore.

Back in the 1977 season finale the gang misplaced their rent money — losing a grand total of $300 — but a similar slip today would be much, much worse. According to a Santa Monica leasing specialist Penny Muck, a two-bedroom, one-bath place in the area could now go for as much as $6,000 a month — way more than a florist, secretary, and culinary student could probably afford.
This estimate even skyrocketed several hundred dollars in the past year, given that rents in the coastal city have jumped 15% from 2014 — yikes! Maybe Stanley Roper was more forgiving than we thought.
